Akshaya Tritiya is one of the auspicious days for Hindus. Akshaya means ‘never ending; or ‘eternal’. It falls on third day of the bright half (Shukla paksha Moon) of Vaisakha month. This day is considered as very auspicious to perform any activity. There is no need to find any muhurta on this day, as whole day is considered as auspicious.

Significance of Akshaya Tritiya

It is believed that Satya Yuga (one of the four yugas) was started on this day.

Great sage Vedavyasa and Lord Ganesha have started writing great epic Mahabharata on this auspicious day

River Ganga was descended to earth (through Lord Shiva) on this day.

Kubera received the position as custodian of wealth on this day

What can be done on this day?

As we already know akshaya tritiya is very auspicious, this day can be used in meditation, charity, pious acts. Also it is essential to have good thoughts, words and action on this day because whatever we do on the day will be multiplied many times. It is believed that buying gold is very auspicious on this day.

We can also do pooja to Goddess Mahalaxmi or visit Mahalaxmi temple.
