Remedies in Vedic Astrology | Remedy Zone
Remedial measures in astrology is a very important subject. Astrology is not only used for predictive purposes but also can be used in remedial aspects in dealing with problems. If there is a problem, then there must be some solution as well. Discovering the problem in a horoscope is one thing and finding the solution to it is another. The science of astrology comes handy in dealing with such matters.
Astrology is based on the philosophy of Karma. There will be a heavy load of karmic baggage on the back of everyone. Some people will have bigger baggage and some will have a smaller one. Whether remedies work or not will depend on the karmic backlog we carry with us. We should know how karma works for that. The sins committed in the past births will get matured and result in the form of problems, diseases, pain in various fields. There are three types of karma: Sanchita Karma, Prarabdha Karma, and Agami Karma. Certain karmas like prarabdha karmas have to be experienced. However, certain karmas can be altered. Based on the level of karma from past lives, the planets and stars would be placed in the present life of the native. If there is a punya (virtuous deeds) in the life account of the individual, then the planets will be placed in benefic positions. If there is more of paapa (sins) in the life account, then planets will be placed adversely.
One should understand one important point. If they have done any mistake, there will be some consequence. Nobody can escape from that. Everyone on this earth, including great personalities have gone through difficulties in life. The problems come to teach a lesson because it has been wrongly done in previous births. It depends on how you take it. You may treat it as a lesson or treat as a punishment. In these cases, remedies will work in reducing the impact.
Three limbs of Remedial Measures
There are three important aspects of remedial measures and all are equally important. And if one link also goes missing, then the effect of remedy is reduced.
- The person with the problem or dosha
- The person who identifies and rectifies the dosha – Astrologer and Priest
- The medium of remedy
The person who has problems should be honest. He/she should have faith in astrologer and his remedies. It is very important to have a positive mindset. He should have a real interest in finding out the source of the problems. He should not be in the impression that spending money alone would solve all the problems. And the intention shouldn’t be about harming others in any manner.
The astrologer and purohit should be knowledgeable, truthful and honest. They should have the mantra siddhi and vak siddhi. Astrologer should know all the aspects of astrology and astronomy and priest should be well versed in Vedas. They must study the scriptures every day and should have the siddhi of the gayatri mantra. Remedial measures involve breaking of sanchita karma of individual. When it is freed from the individual, it naturally gets attached to astrologers and priests. In the long run, it will start manifesting on them. So, they should protect themselves by following strict disciplines.
The medium of remedy is also very important. The items used in the remedy should be pure. When doing dana (charity), the best quality of items should be given to the needy. While chanting mantras, it has to be done regularly and for a long period of time.
How do remedies work?
Remedies work in two ways: one is strengthening a weak planet (sometimes strong planet also) and other is creating protection from the malefic planet. A planet is like a mirror, which shows our present condition.
Certain karmas appear to teach some lesson to the individual. Acknowledging and surrendering to it is the first step. That acknowledgment and correcting the mistake is like reversing the karma, with the help of remedies. Reversing of karma can be done in many ways and involves certain procedures.
And some karmas cannot be reversed and have to be experienced in its own way. But again with the help of remedies, one can change the attitude of acceptance.
When remedies don’t work?
As said earlier, the person who has the dosha and the person who cures it, both should be honest in their approach. The problem comes for a reason. Working on remedies with mere external posturing will not work. One should be deeply involved with it and perform everything with passion & complete surrendering.
However, if the karma is very strong and has to be experienced, then we may not be able to do any remedy. Or even if we do, we may face many obstacles in completing it. But one should not lose focus, because like everything in life, there will be an expiry period for karma as well. When the time comes, everything changes.
Types of Remedies
Mantras – Mantras are a collection of Sanskrit words, which are chanted rhythmically. Mantras have the power to awaken the dormant powers of the soul. When a mantra is chanted, gradually the mind assumes a state of purity and serenity.
Worship – Worshiping can be internal or external. External worship includes devotion to the divine in the form of image, idol, linga, saligrama or any other symbol. Internal worship is done through mental channels without any physical entity.
Yantra – Yantras are mathematical symbols or diagrams. Generally, they are used in worshipping deities and planet lords and also in tantric acts. The symbols contain dot, line, triangle, square, circle etc. Yantras can be drawn on a paper or carved in a metal or even it could be three-dimensional structure. When it is energized and worshiped daily, can create positive influence around.
Homa – Homa or Yajna is a fire ritual, which involves offering some important things to deities through Vedic fire. Fire is a medium of communication between human and the deity. Homa cleanses and creates a positive aura in the environment. The sixteen samskaras involve performing homas for alleviating all the doshas in the family.
Dana or Charity – Charity has a lot of significance in Hinduism. Dana means the act of giving something to the needy. Giving anything like food, water, grains, cow, land, gold, knowledge etc based on one’s capacity can change a lot in terms of attitude and also the karma.
Yoga and Pranayama – Yoga and Pranayama are not mere physical exercises but it combines body & mind into higher consciousness. Pranayama is a process of regulating breadth with a rhythmic breathing exercise. Both have a tremendous effect on alleviating the doshas in the chart.
Gemstones and Rudraksha – Gemstone is a crystal piece which allows the particular colour of rays in a magnified way to the body. These are used to strengthen the planetary vibrations in the body. Also, wearing gemstones along with jewelry increases the beauty quotient. Also, rudraksha beads are used for protection and chanting purposes.
Seva or Service – It is nothing but volunteering or selfless service for any cause. It has to be done without any desires. It is an act of compassion but it can transform an individual to a great extent. First thing, it will destroy the ego. For each planet, different kinds of seva are prescribed in the scriptures.
Colour and Music Therapy – Colours are used to balance energy in the body. The seven chakras in the body are associated with different colours. Similarly, planets are also associated with different colours. Imbalance of any colour can create problems in that particular chakra and also on the planet. Colour therapy can reduce that imbalance. Music will impact the mind in its own way. Every planet is associated with different raga and tala. So, working on these aspects can alter the planetary vibrations.
